SEVENTEEN Blow Out Volumise Sculpt Tease Mascara

On our final day of the advent calendar we were very happy to receive a full size mascara from the brand SEVENTEEN. This mascara makes your lashes look double the thickness, its conditioning formula with vitamin E and Argan Oil helps to give body to your lashes and sets to give a long lasting lift.

The brush on this mascara is a big barrel, similar to the L’Oreal Scandal Eyes mascara, which coats every lash for bolder, sexier, volumised lashes. We recommend that you curl your eyelashes before you use this mascara as it will not curl your lashes without the added help.

This is the last post form our Boots advent calendar post collection so we hope that you have enjoyed what you have seen and we will see you again soon for some more beauty posts. If you have any requests for blog posts then leave a comment below and we will try our best to rustle up a review.

Also we hope that you are having a great Christmas eve and we wish you a merry Christmas for tomorrow :)

Umberto Giannini Glam Hair Backcomb In A Bottle

This is no regular hair spray; this is a special hair spray that will give your hair extreme volume which is excellent if you have fine hair like us.  This spray is unsticky and easy to use, much like dry shampoo this product helps to build texture which in turn volumises your hair.

To use this product all you need to do is simply spray into the roots of your hair and use your fingers to create the exact amount of volume and texture that you are after. This is very easy and quick to do and the best thing is that it helps prevent damaged hair which is always a bonus.

Nails Inc Porchester Square Nail Polish

Today we are delighted to say that we have another Nails Inc nail polish to add to our collection. As you all know Nails Inc is our favourite brand of nail polish due to their fantastic range of shades and their extreme durability.

This nail polish is in the shade Porchester Square which is a chic mushroom shade. This is great for a day look for the office or if you want a classic look. This shade is one of the best selling colours in the whole of the Nails Inc collection and we definitely see why. You can pick up any Nails Inc nail polish at their website for the average price of £11.00.

(Our other Nails Inc reviews include Soho Silver and UptownGlamour).

This is a brand that is exclusive to Boots and it a great little purchase to tame your hair and keep it healthy.

Carmex Lip Balm Pot - Original

This has got to be the best lip balm EVER! It has a slightly medicinal scent, and doesn't particularly taste great but when it comes to dry chapped lips (Thanks Winter!) it is the best thing to restore your lips and give you back a pukka pout.

I haven't used on of these in years so was pleasantly surprised to see this but after the first use I can see why it is so popular and beats even high end balms at £30.00

While this is the original formulation I know there are various other combinations where that is in a tube or as a gel with different flavours and scents.

Have you ever tried any Carmex products? Why not give them a try?

Ghost The Fragrance

This is again another mini sample size of the original ghost fragrance. I know this is a favourite of most but for me it is a fragrance hate.

"Ghost the Fragrance surrounds its wearer with an aura of sensuality and femininity. Ghost characterises the qualities that make women eternally feminine, sophisticated and graceful".

This scent has fragrance notes of Jasmine, Spicywood, Vanilla Musk and Apricot. It is available from Boots for 50mls at £33.50

Soap & Glory Mini Flake Away Body Scrub 50ml.

This is an incredibly intense exfoliate that rivals any spa experience, leaving your skin baby soft, smooth and hydrated. This contains shea butter, sweet almond oil and peach seed powder, sea salt and sugar.

I have purchased this several times before and am thrilled to have a travel size version of the product. This needs to be applied to damp skin and massaged in circular motions until the grains have dissolved. I love scrubs and like a really intense exfoliation so I use the scrub with exfoliating gloves, but that is just what I prefer.

All the soap and glory products have an absolutely fantastic scent which is amazing. I can't describe them well enough to do the products justice so why not treat yourself to a travel size or full size version of this product?

 I dare you ;)

Boots Emery Board

This cute little nail file/emery board is right on trend with the nail theme we have seen in the past few days. It has a cute pink polka dot design and is a great travel size item for when you're on the go and disaster strikes.

A pack of three mini emery boards from boots with varying designs are available for £2.00

Stay tuned for day 17!

SEVENTEEN Semi Permanent Liquid Eyeliner - Tattoo Me

This is a great little eyeliner that you can pick up at a very low price. You can get this at Boots for £4.99 which is such a bargain as it is one that will last and can be used all the time.

Don’t be afraid by the ‘semi permanent’ in the title of this product- you will not be eyelined for a week, it just means that the ink will not smudge or wear, this is great as you do not have to worry about getting panda eyes as the day goes on.

The ink is very much a jet black colour which really stands out and emphasises your lash line and the ultra thin nib is good for doing precise lines. It does however take a bit of removing so getting a waterproof makeup remover is essential.

Give it a go and let us know what you think,

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow to see what is behind day 16 of our advent calendar.

As you already know, last month we did a review of the Nails Inc Kate Spade nail polish in the shade uptown glamour (click here to see the review) but we loved it so much that we had to review the shade Soho Silver too.

This is another festive metallic shade that works with every outfit to add a pinch of glam.

Soho Silver is a silver shade which is extra cool as it reflects light so well that it is like having little disco balls for nails – without it looking odd- it is a very classic look that is very much in trend this season. The nail polish lasts for such a long time so it is well worth the money.

Nails Inc is easily our favourite brand of nail polish and as of yet they have done no wrong. What is your favourite shade of nail polish?

Juicy Couture La La Juicy Couture EDP spray mini

"Couture La La embodies free spirited and effortlessly glamorous women". The juicy couture packaging and fragrance has a mix of the feminine and rock chic vibe meaning that it will be a scent suitable for most girls.

The scent has a floral fruity fragrance, with Top Notes including Mandarin, Green Apple, and Red Current. Heart of White flower of lily of the valley, Orange Blossom, and Violet Leaves. Base notes include Snesial Musk Accords.

This retails at £34.50 for 30ml from Boots.

Vichy Liftactiv Eyes and Lashes 3ml

I am really excited by this product as I absolutely love Vichy products, and was considering purchasing this product not too long ago!

Essentially this is an anti-aging eye serum which also improves the condition of weak eyelashes too.  As it contains light reflecting particles it gives tired eyes are brightening and youthful appearance which is something we could all do with at some point!

As always with Vichy Products it is suitable for sensitive skin and is hypoallergenic and paraben free, and is suitable for sensitive skin types.

As with all eye products only a small amount it needed, and may be dotted around the contour of the eye, using swimming motions to enable the product to be fully absorbed.

This is a great little tester containing only 3mls of the product, but a little does in fact go a long way, and this is great before you purchase a full size product as you can actually decide if it suits you or not.

A full size product is available from Boots at £24.50, however is currently on offer for under £19.00!

Boots Salon Nail Shine Solution

This product sounds fantastic, and I am really looking forward to trying it out. The formula contains sea kelp extract which is an essential ingredient to give your nails a pro salon shiny glossy look. Essentially this is a top coat polish with a bit of added extra oomph.

Whether it helps to prevent chipping like the Seche Vite top coat, and how many days the polish will last for I am not sure of yet, but for £4.20 this is definitely a bargain buy which I am hoping will work really well!

Have any of you guys tried the Boots Salon Nail Shine Solution?

Ghost Moonlight Fragrance Mini

This is certainly an oldie but a goodie! This is an incredibly popular fragrance that has stood the test of time. It is a floral fruity scent, with notes of ginger, bergamot and cantaloupe, as well as pink peony, orange blossom and lily of the valley. Base notes include sandlewood and amber.

This is by no means an overpowering fragrance but is long-lasting and could be worn either for day or night. This is a great fragrance which I am sure will be loved by all. I love all of the ghost fragrances, my personal favourite being ghost sweetheart.

This is available from boots for £22.50 per 50ml.

Orly Bonder Rubberised Base Coat 10ml

This base coat was a lovely little surprise that came right in time for my work Christmas party! I had completely ran out of base coats so was delighted to receive this on the 10th December.  The nail polish adheres incredibly well due to the rubber particles in the formula and prevents chipping.

This is available from boots for £5.00

Seventeen Miami Supreme Shine Nail Polish 10ml

This is a fab girly shade that will suit every skin tone. After a few disappointing days with the advent calendar we are back on track.  This is a generous full size nail polish which is great for the party season which I cannot wait to try. I have tried these polishes before and the formulation is great. It wears up to four days before chipping and has a great shine forumla and is easy to apply and remove.

This retails in Boots for £3.99 and comes in a variety of different shades.

Umberto Giannini Pom Pom Pony Band.

So I was slightly disappointed with this hair accessory, and would rather have had something slightly different than the hair bobbles I used to wear at primary school. However since opening this I have had a look in magazines and seen similar accessories worn in an uber chic way, so maybe this is something that I will learn to love. Either way I will be able to experiment with hair styles so it will be quite fun and when a winning style is found I will upload for you guys to check out.

Despite this, it is really well made and looks rather expensive compared to some I have seen on the highstreet, and being a dark shade means it will be easy to wear and wont clash with my chosen outfit.

Maybe I could try something like this??

How would you style a classic pom pom band?

Is anybody else feeling as festive as we are?

I must say it only started feeling like Christmas when we got our Christmas decorations up and unfortunately we were a bit late with that this year. But still, there is nothing better than decorating the house whilst listening to Michael Buble sing all I want for Christmas is you so we are going to show you some of your Christmas decorations to get you in the mood.

To start with we have the little ornaments around the room. As you can see from the picture we have a set of two jolly looking snowmen, we love these because they look so festive and also they have a detailed scene on each of their bellies to as to the festivity. Other ornaments we have are glass Christmas trees which we have put in our window, the mini baubles are shaped like presents, which we think are really cute, we also have 2 Santa figurines as you can see in the picture. Also on the top of one of our cabinets we have a ‘merry Christmas’ light to spread the joy to everybody that walks in the room, there is a giant snow globe which plays white Christmas and we have a berry garland which hangs above our fire place.

Other decorations we have are white paper chains and snowflakes which we stuck to the ceiling. We were worried that it might have looked tacky but with the paper all being white it has turned our living room into a winter wonderland.

Now to one of the best things about Christmas, THE TREE!

Ours is a very classic tree decorated with a gold and purple theme of baubles and bows. We have had these for rather a long time now so we can’t tell you where they are from but we love them so much!  And I can’t put into words how excited we are to start getting the presents under it.

We hope that you all have a very merry Christmas and if you have any pictures of your decorations then be sure to tweet them to us. We would love to see them  :D

Paco Rabanne Black XS Mini.

I have always loved Paco Rabanne fragrances, in particular Lady Million but I have never tried the Black XS fragrance. For some reason I was always put off by the packaging, and yes alarm bells are ringing with 'don't judge a book by it's cover', but it very is easily done.

Behind the number 7 advent door was a mini travel size but the actual scent can be purchased from 30-100mls from Boots, and other high street beauty retailers.  It is rather a strong and long lasting scent which is probably best for evenings out, and may considered overpowering for day time use.

Personally this scent is not to my liking at all and is probably not the best stocking filler for friends and family this year for Christmas. I think this would really suit a few certain individuals but I think that this is the most disappointing gift so far in the advent calendar. Sometimes you really can judge a book by its cover.

Friday, 6 December 2013

It is day 6 today!

I think this must be our favourite gift so far, it is the Vichy Idealia Life Serum which we have been waiting to buy for ages. This serum can be used to Repair and restore the radiance of your complexion and can be used instead of your moisturiser.

We have only just tried this serum so we can not tell you how it is in the long run but we have heard so many good things and we will be sure to let you know how we get on with it. So far we have only good things to say – it is moisturising, gentle and leaves your skin looking brighter after one application.

If you want to get yourself a serum, this is a lovely little one which you can get at any Boots store for £29.50

We will see you tomorrow to see what is behind door 7

Thursday, 5 December 2013

So it is day 5 of the countdown to Christmas and we were excited to open up the next door to our Boots advent calendar.

The gift we found was a Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse foundation in the shade 100 ivory, which luckily enough, is the perfect match for our skin tone. This is a great little foundation to use during the day for a light coverage that doesn’t feel cakey on your skin. We love the texture of this foundation as it feels really soft and airy so it glides onto your skin and blends excellently. Supposedly this product has shine control but I can’t say that I would use it without a light dusting of powder.

You can get your own at Boots for £5.99.

Come back tomorrow to see what is behind day 6

Nina Ricci L'Eau parfum 1.2ml

Believe it or not but I have never EVER tried any fragrance from Nina Ricci, and I cannot think why! These scents are all impeccable and this one in particular is divine. We have a small sample here, but the Iconic Apple shaped bottles are beautifully presented and make any Vanity look amazing. This scent is perfect for spring. It is delicate and light however very long lasting.

This Features the iconic notes of Apple, mandarin, Grapefruit and Neroli and is the embodiment of spring. While I do enjoy the change in season and the lovely crisp winter weather, I am a sucker for spring and I am rather looking forward to it now when I can wear this fragrance.

Naturally with fragrance it is completely personal, and what one person thinks another would disagree with, but I do think that this is a lovely scent that would suit a wide age range.

This perfume is available in Boots for £24.50 for 30ml.

Have you ever used Nina Ricci Scents? If so which is your favourite?

Today we opened the advent door to a lovely red Mavala nail polish in the shade 53 London. We have not tried this brand of nail polish before but we have heard many good things so we can’t wait to give it a try.

The nail polish comes in a sophisticated small gold topped bottle.  As we all know, nail polishes dry out eventually but Mavala have created an amazing formula to avoid this meaning that you no longer have to throw out half full bottles of nail polish!

This shade is a classic red which definitely fits the festive mood and is perfect for all skin tones and occasions. Mavala has many different shades available and can be found in Boots for £4.30.

Have you tried any of the Mavala nail polishes?

Come back tomorrow to see what is behind door 4

The Balmi Cube

I think anybody interested in beauty must have heard of the EOS lip balms which are coveted in the States, but here in England it is rather hard to get hold of them. So we have Balmi instead!  These virtually look identical to the EOS lip balms. In this advent calendar I was lucky enough to receive the Mint lip balm. This contains SPF 15 and with the mint extract, similarly to the mint Burt's Bees lip balm, it has a lovely cooling effect. It is almost as though you can feel the balm working and is incredibly hydrating.  This is the perfect handbag size, not too big, not too small and is easy to apply and mess free.

This lip balm is available in different flavours including, Mint, Strawberry, Raspberry and Coconut and is available at Boots for £2.99

Have you guys tried the Balmi products? If so what did you think?

It's the most wonderful time of the year...!

This year it's been about the battle of the beauty calendars, as high street chain Boots has finally come on board releasing their first ever beauty advent calendar.  Retailing at £30.00 this is by far the least expensive calendar I have been able to source, and with you high street beauty product lovers out there (myself included) I intend to do a reveal for each day throughout December. Are you excited? I know I am! The Calendar contains products worth over £65.00 so this is an absolute bargain, and features Brands including Soap and Glory, Nails Inc, Juicy Couture, Vichy, Mavala and many more. These products are minis but if you intended to purchase a full size product triple points will be added onto your boots beauty card.

So drum roll please......Beauty Product Treat for Day 1:

The first thing I said was 'ooooh, I LOVE this' so I have a feeling this will be a rather amazing Calendar.

The Day 1 treat is a Soap & Glory Mini Girls Clean Body Wash 75ml. It has a beautiful florally fruity scent without being too overpowering. Whenever I use this I always get compliments, especially from guys so whatever the Soap & Glory team put in here, it's a winner.  It also has the most girly packaging which I love, and has an easy to use screw top which does not leak when travelling....yes, I have had that disaster before.

This is a great travel size product, and I know that a little certainly goes a long way with this stuff so I think this is a great day 1 treat! For more Soap & Glory Treats check out the Boots Website where a range of products are on offer.

I am so excited for Day 2 now!

Saturday, 30 November 2013

Some of you may not know about this brand but it is our new love. Mally Beauty is an American brand, which we found rather hard to find in the UK.

This is a lovely trio of lipsticks that are designed to help hydrate and condition your lips to help prevent aging whilst giving you a fantastic tint of colour. The lipstick pencil has a very smooth and creamy consistency that feels very moisturising on application. The only thing similar in consistency would be the Revlon Lip Butters. I find this is particularly helpful in the winter months when you have to deal with the crisis of dry, chapped lips which make your normal lipstick look cakey.

These lipsticks come in 3 different shades, Perfect Rose, Pink Peoney and my personal favourite Berry Flush. They are nicely pigmented and give you medium – bold colour depending on how much you apply, also the colours are very wearable throughout the day and night.

We really recommend this brand and these lipsticks – You can get yours on the QVC website or maybe ask for it for Christmas ;)

We decided to branch out from our Bobbi Brown gel liner, and to try something quite different, and what could be better than the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. Because of our eye shape we prefer to be able to apply a thin line to out upper lash line which we would wing out or keep within the eye socket, and if needed thicken for line for dramatic looks. Therefore the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in the felt tip format sounded perfect to us. This must be the most precise eye liner ever made!

The nib is very fine and elongated, with the perfect shape to give you control and a smooth thick or thin line. The formula is long lasting and literally smudge proof: I was very happy to discover this after rubbing my eye post makeup application, but luckily for me all was good and nothing was out of place. The ink is incredibly pigmented and amazingly doesn’t fade throughout the day.

For £10.00 this eye liner is definitely a smart purchase.

Recently my nails have taken a turn for the worse, in the sense that they keep breaking! I know my job is rather hands on and constantly washing my hands isn't helping my dry brittle nails. I have asked around and tweeted about what I could use that would help, and there was a unanimous reply for O.P.I's Nail Envy which retails at £18.65 from Boots . I have seen this advertised and mentioned din the beauty world, but does it really live up to the hype?...........

The answer is YES. Yes it does.

You are supposed to coat your nails with two coats of the polish, and the on alternate days for the next week. For me that seemed rather excessive so I applied one coat at the beginning of the week and one more half way through for even coverage and my nails are as solid as a rock nail. I have been using this for about 3 months now and haven't looked back.

This product can be expensive but may also be found online at feel unique, or even ebay for as little as £8.00

Have you tried this product? If so, what are your thoughts?
